M3 93,000 miles what to replace 1st?
Hello There,
I own a 97 M3 since it was new. The car runs great. It is completely stock with the exception of floor mats, euro plate, & white side markers. No mechanical parts yet needed. I am wondering what parts, if any, will need replacing or updating in the months to come? I am guessing that suspension updating may be in order but I am not really sure what should be done first. Here is a little backround: I do mainly highway driving. I do drive fast & hard in turns and hitting at least 100MPH every day. My average speed on the computer is 39 MPH. Those of you with computers in the car will understand that this is on the high MPH range. I am finally bringing the car onto the track in two weeks for a track school and am a bit concerned about the suspension. If you have any suggestions please post them. Thanks. Marc

Marc,
Are you sure really want to go there?? You want to hit the track..Great!! You need to replace all the fluids, especially the brake fluid. Now you want some good track pads like Hawk or PFCs. That's all you need to do to prepare for the track. But ...once you do some sessions, you will get this tremendous need to upgrade the suspension like Bilstein PSS9 (like Wayne likes) or H&R Cup (which I like) along with bigger anti-roll bars. Then you would want a second set of track wheels and sticky tires. Then you need to get competition seats like Sparco along with 5-point harnesses and bars and .......when you give a Moose a muffin... Enjoy.. Paul |
