Question about the all too famous E36 water pump
Tomorrow I am going to buy my 95' M3. Most of the coolant system has been overhauled, including an aluminum radiator. The seller has told me that at idle it starts to get warm but cools off once he drives it around a bit. His mechanic said that the water pump is probably getting close to needing to be replaced. I have already ordered one and can do so easily once I get the car home. My question is does it sound like I should make it home alright? It will have to go about 100-120 miles but the water pump doesn't leak or squeal yet. I'm not too worried and am prepared to replace it on the side of the road (right tools, water jug and old working water pump in the trunk). Comfort me and tell me everything will be okay.
