265/5 transmission seals
We have a 265/5 transmission fitted to our 325is car, there is a huge oil leak from the the front seal area...this is the trans with the separate bell housing, so when thats removed, there are 7 allen head bolts holding on the front seal and this also covers the bearing for another shaft......there is supposed to be a gasket to seal this whole area but it looks like the re-builder we bought it from only used some sort of gasket paste and it didn't work....
Are these gaskets available anywhere please??? Thanks Mark

Just to follow up on this.....
There was supposed to be a thin gasket under this front plate, it didn't seem to do much, but it does, this basically stops all the oil from falling out. The guy who put in together in the first place, neglected to fit it, but used some sort of sealing compound that simply oozed out when the two faces came together..... I had to special order it from BMW at a cost of $15 for the flimsy gasket and $15.01 for over night delivery! Cheers Mr BMW! Anyway, it should solve the problem I hope! |
