Unhappy 1986 325e

1986 325e ???miles

Recently purchased this car, I had serviced at local import shop, had all fluids replaced passenger side front and rear wheel bearings replaced. Ran great until today, hard to crank this morning took about 5 minutes of feathering gas pedal to idle normal. Left inspection shop this afternoon and car started hesitating then cutoff. Restarted then noticed the idle was high, not sure how high due to tach inoperable. I have to nearly stand on brake to stop, very scary with wife and child. It has been difficult to start and now when it does finally start it sounds like throttle is wide open then settles down then back wide open again. Thanks in advance for any help...

Does pelican have a vacum hose kit by chance? All I see are individual hoses for sale.

I would start by removing the air inlet ducting and cleaning the throttle valve and idle control valve. Since your problem started suddenly, those things are probably not the problem, but cleaning those things every few years is normal maintenance anyway, and it will give you the opportunity to inspect all the air ducting to see if anything is cracked,
