temperature guage
Hi there I would like to know why the temperature has all of a sudden dropped. It has always been sitting on the half way mark since I bought the car many years ago. ??? Its only been doing this for a couple of weeks. I checked the level of the water and it was up to the correct level. 318i 93

most likely the thermostat is stuck open.

If your gas mileage is poorer now, you can be quite sure that the thermostat is stuck open. If the 318 uses a plastic thermostat housing like the 6 cyls, don't try to re-use it. The plastic housings shrink and warp with time, and they leak when you re-use them.
