1998 328i EWS problem - No Crank
The starter does not engage when turning the key.
Using INPA diagnostic software I get the following error code - 18 EWS-SIGNAL (DWA-Eingang) nicht vorhanden oder fehlehaft error frequency 20 logistic counter 40 Using EasyDIS diagnostic software I get the following - Starter motor off speed exceeded - NO Starter enabled - NO Starter motor blocked due to select lever - NO Starter blocked due to 'cent.-1 double' - NO Starter blocked due to BC code - NO Key identification - NOT OK Key password - NOT OK Current key number - 1 Key transmits - NO Key disabled - NO BC code (via K bus) - not active Terminal R wire - ON Status, DME wire - BLOCKED It appears that there is a problem with the EWS. I just don't know how to proceed. I don't know if based upon the above information if a EWS-DME alignment will cure the problem or if the ring coil antenna located at the starter switch need to be replaced. I'm hoping that someone on the board with more experience could give me some guidance. Thanks, Jack |
