CEL 1255 - Fuel Injector #5

here's my puzzle.

I recently replaced my oxygen sensor because the check engine light illuminated(ODB-i 1221). Immediately afterwards the check engine light pointed to fuel injector 5 (ODB-I 1255) All indications of a failed oxygen sensor were occuring: loss of power when accelerating, irregular idle during warm engine, ect.

The odd thing is when my car is cold it runs like a charm. however, after 10 minutes, a loss of power occurs. I resetted the CEL and now it points to the fuel injector 5, and not the oxygen sensor anymore.

Today I went ahead and replaced the fuel injector, however, I am still getting the same results. The car runs fine, but after 10 minutes there is a loss of power and it begins to putter. The sound is resemblence to a hole in the muffler. Did i replace the correct one ( Second one from the back?). I am at a loss, and do not know what to do besides take it in. So with a replaced Oxygen sensor and fuel injector what else could it be?

thanks.

Wow, this was an old post! I believe I ended up replacing the sparkplugs and the electrical coil that goes over the top of the spark plug. However, please take this recommendation with a grain of salt because it's been so long since i've owned that car. It ended up almost breaking down on me somewhere near burbank and I drove it straight to carmax and bought another 1996 325i.

I would recommend doing that instead. Good luck.

Carmax is not a option =) Below is a link to a post with my e30 with m50. As you can see, getting rid of it is not a option:

Nice one! Makes me want to get back in the game, but I have moved onto older mercedes and ZERO car payments! Try the coil suggestion. You could probably take your existing ones, switch them around, reset the odb, and see if it points to a different injector.

I swapped all of the coils last night with no change. Still throwing the 1255 code. I am thinking either the o2 sensor, cam shaft sensor, fuel pump
