I have a chance to get one in good shape with 134K miles for $2K. Had a '87 Carrera but never a Bimmer. The M50 seems like an awesome motor; it does not seem like a bad risk. What are the strengths and weaknesses? Any advise appreciated.

Dennis,
I've had both and I actually like my 92 BMW 325is better than the Porsche 911! Things to look out for are bad sycros in tranny, water pumps are good for about 65K. Everything is fairly straight forward and easy to work on!

Would recommend the 325IS E36. Great road manners and does well on fuel (Hwy MPG).
Mine has been easy to work on and cannot think of any weakness. |
