how about unhooking and reinstalling the clutch return spring assembly. i have been fighting it all day. is there and accepted way to remove and replace? I know it should not be this hard but I am really struggling. thanks for any help

Are you referring to the clutch pedal return spring? You can remove it by grabbing with needle nose pliers and rotating until spring ends comes out.
