Hello,
My BMW has the transmission A5S 310Z. BMW 323i 97/98. The oil was replaced with 82,000 KM. After changing the oil and gasket not replaced the filter - the mechanic said there was no need noticed noise as follows: to start the vehicle while it is still cold, everything ok, after about 10 seconds starts a noise like something sucking liquid easily confused with something sucking something metal and after the vehicle reaches a state warmer, the noise disappears completely and only returns when the vehicle is completely cold again. My BMW is now with 140,000 KM and here in Brazil the mechanics could not tell what it was. Just say it's nothing. This is normal. Well, may be, but this noise until the replacement gasket and oil never occurred. Can anyone advise me on what might be happening? Thank you very much! P. S. How many liters transmission take? ![]() __________________ This post was auto-generated based upon a question asked on our tech article page here: |

They should have checked the oil level with the car running and it sounds like they didn't. Transmission torque converters usually drain back when the engine is shut off so the fluid level temporarily rises. They may have also damaged the seal for the filter when they removed it and now your sucking air until the transmission heats up and expands reducing the leak. These transmissions take from 10 to 12 quarts of fluid typically.
