I have a 92 E36 325i Automatic. I purchased this car a little over a year ago. A few days ago, with out any warning, I noticed it wasn't shifting over to second gear. There is a loss in power and a delay in accelaration when I step on the gas Ex. From a complete stop or pulling out of my driveway At most, I can get it up to 50-55mph and the RPM guage is displaying 3,000. Will a transmission oil change help or am I looking into Transmission work???

Your gear selector switch, which may control your reverse lights, also indicates the gear position to your transmission control unit. If the gear selector switch is not working that may be the cause of your transmission shifting problem. Maybe when you swapped the tail-light lens you blew the fuse for the reverse lights and now your gear selector switch is not working. Which questions did you want answered?
