1995 325i BMW engine and tranny swap

I have a 1995 BMW 325i (manufactured in 11/1994). I've recently swapped out both the engine and the tranny, on separate occasions. The engine runs but I'm lacking power in forward gears, reverse is fine. My tranny guy said I need to get the computer flashed by a dealer or change the computer, which I did change the computer and of course no start. I tried to eliminate the EWS security system but I think my car is too early for that it doesn't have the yellow connector behind the glove box as described in video I found for that. Does anyone have any ideas on if it needs this flash done or is there something else I can look for or do. I'm really hoping that this tranny isn't bad also and I have to go through all that again on taking it out. Thanks
