how hard is it to replace the guibo?
 

My mechanic told me that my guibo (the rubber flex disc in the drive shaft) needs to be replaced, along with the transmission mounts, and tail shaft and selector shaft seals on the trans. He quoted me $510 to do it, but I can get all the parts I need for less than $100, so I was wondering what is involved in doing it myself to save $400. The Bentley manual mentions dropping the entire exhaust -- is that really necessary? Any tips or advice is welcome. Thanks.

don't know the answer to your question todd, but i think the bmw forum here is pretty much dead. you might try the roadfly bmw forum...very much alive.
