I have a 97 328i. The red light constantly blinks for the convertible switch and when it is pushed it makes a loud clicking sound and won't stop unless you turn off the engine. Top won't go up or down. Any suggestions?

This means there is a fault in the system. You will need a scan tool capable of scanning the convertible top module or check the position switches. You can try to release the top manually and see if the and reset the power top motor in the trunk. See if you can electrically move the top up. You can always return it manually.
