1995 M3 E36 3.2 Tools needed for Head Gasket
Hello Everyone (new member here),
I just rescued my first BMW from a friend, and I need to do a head gasket and time the motor. I have the Bentley manual for this car (3.2 euro) and I read the tech articles on what needs to be done, but I was wondering if there were any specific tools that this can be done with/without. I do not plan on buying the camshaft removal tool (I will fabricate my own) but I do not have any BMW specific tools. I read about the engine lock, and the timing chain tension tool, but I am not sure exactly where to get these? Also, I should note if anyone here has run into this. The kid said that they rebuilt the bottom end of the motor (done by a machine shop) but they put the head back on, and they didn't time it. He said the motor was sucking air in through the exhaust and it they ran it only for about 10 seconds after the build before turning her off and parking it for 7 years (48,000 miles on it, crazy right!). Anyways, if there are any thoughts I would appreciate it. Thanks! |
