2001 BMW 325i E46 Idle issues
I have a 2001 BMW 325i E46. I can start the engine and it idles fine until I tap the accelerator, then the idle bounces from 400-1500 rpm. If I rev it to about 2000 rpms it clears out and runs fine until I do it again. When coming up to a stop while it has done the same thing. While it has the erratic idle the is a lot of suction noise from the air box. When the idle clears out there is a clunk noise and the suction noise goes away. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Vacuum leak maybe.
Bad connection to AFM maybe. What fault codes are you getting when you scan the car?
