Scan Codes

Replace o2 sensor and green o2 heater relay in fuse box. Reset with scan tool. Check Engine light comes back on it 5 minutes. Checked and replaced plugs to insure not running rich. Installed stock factory recommend double tip plug. Reset with scan tool.

Getting these codes are CEL comes back on.

Code 201 Control Unit

Code 13 o2 Circuit

Anyone know why this is happening to my 1994 e36 325is with M50TU engine.

Car has gone thru o2 sensors almost every year for the past six years. No more than 40 thousand miles and 6 o2 sensors. Do i have a bad DME.?

Help!

Rick,

Been seeing a lot of O2 sensor issues lately. Might try reading this particular article that we have in regards to O2 sensors: Pelican Technical Article: About Oxygen Sensors

Might find something useful there. If not try adding something in the comments section and see if a pelican technician may better assist you with your issue.

RE:Scan Codes

Hello,

Thanks the questions I am asking is very specific. Not the same but related to the article. Main question is why won't a new o2 sensor last more than 5 to 10 thousand miles.

Have others had the same exact problem and what causes it?

Luccia at Pelican Parts 03-03-2015 05:28 PM

I would suggest posting a comment in that article itself to have a technician better answer your technical questions. There may be something else that is relating to exactly why your O2 sensors are only lasting that long.

I know about the article and how o2 sensors work on the ODB1 system. I need to find someone that has had the same chronic o2 sensor failure and what they did to fix the problem.

Anyone have the answer. Today scan code is 201 Control

and Scan Code 13 o2 Circuit

Thank you,

My apologies, I do not believe you're understanding what I am saying. If you scroll to the bottom of the article there is a Comments and Suggestions section. If the article does not answer your chronic sensor failure, which it doesn't, you are able to post a comment in that section at the bottom and a technician may be able to give you better advice to what may be causing your O2 sensor issue. Hope that clears up what I was saying initially and good luck with your search in fixing your issue!
