My 95 325is shifts into 1,3,4,5,R just fine, but doesn't engage in 2nd. It's like there's nothing happening/engaging when shifting from any gear into 2nd. The stick just falls into where 2nd gear should be but isn't. 2nd is now a phantom gear, like whatever connects the shift knob to the transmissing has disappeared. This happened as a result of trying to shift from 1st to 2nd one cold morning, where there was a thud followed by the absence of the engagement of 2nd. Could I have broken something that could be fixed through this kit?

I would recommend to have the gearbox oil drained and inspected for debris. Sounds like an internal gearbox issue.
