Will 98 E36 auto trans fit in 94 auto e36

I have a 1994 E36 V6 that I've had for 12 years with an automatic transmission that has a bad reverse and my son just happen to have a 1998 e36 V6 with an automatic trans that he wrecked last month. I would like to know would that transmission from that 98 fit in my 94 e36. Both of the cars are verts and instead of me rebuilding my transmission in my 94, it would be great if I can just have someone pull the transmission from the 98 and slide it in my 1994 before I send the 1998 the salvage yard. I know these cars pretty well but I'm just not sure about that transmission. Thanks in advance!!

Check the bell housing on realoem.com to see if the bolt pattern is the same on both.
And BMW makes inline sixers, not 90 degree opposed V-6ers.
