Heater Core Problem

Hi All,

I have to replace the heater core in my 1994 325IC. Have any of you done this before and can offer any tips, "gotcha's" or shortcuts?

Thanks,
Ken

I think this might be covered in the Bentley manual. I believe that you have to take out most of the dash, and it's the biggest pain in the universe. At least I know that for a fact on the Mercedes 190s... Heater core is the one thing I do not want to ever have to do...

I must say, this is not a job for the faint of heart. My friend and I have just now reached the heater core after about 10 hours of tedious and frustrating work trying to remove all of the center console and the lower part of the dash. We still have several hours ahead of us to complete the job. You definitely need a Bentley's Service manual to step you through and some flexible ratchets and star screwdrivers to get at some near impossible screw and bolt locations. . My guess is that it will take about a total of 12-16 hours to do this job. Personally, if I had to do it again, I would just pay to have it done.

I did it in my '92 E-36 325 and my '95 E-38 740i,
You will be OK if you take your time.
I think the 93+ cars are easerier than pre 93 cars. but I am unsure. I think 93+ cars the core will be acsessable from the drivers side footweel with removale of surrounding trim ect....
you will need AT LEAST the haynes manual , but try and get the bently, and best yet try for the BMW TIS software that will help you ,( I understand It can be bought threw the dealer or elseware.....uuummmmebayuuummm..)

Hmm, I stand behind my original comments about the heater core!
