I am considering purchasing a 99 BMW 323 Convertible. Can anyone give me some info on this model as far as reliability and maintenance? Thanks.

I bought a '98 328i Cabrio last suumer and have been nothing but pleased. What a wonderful piece of machinery.
Just go through the normal checks to see if it's a good car and I'm sure you'll be a happy camper. If you're a performance nut, you may consider a 328 or eeven an M3 Cab, but in all seriousness the 323 is a really nice car. the '99 Cab is still an e36 right? (While the '99 coupes and sedans were the newer e46 design.) |

It is a great car. The end of a product line is the best that you can do. This is the last of the E36 cars, and they have fixed all of the bugs and problems with it.
Make sure that the car has a prepurchase inspection performed, and also see if the previous owner has all the paperwork and service receipts for the past 5 years... -Wayne

If the car has an automatic top, make sure it works well. These use elastic belts and if they wear out, they are around $900($100 parts and $800 labor) to replace. I have had estimates from three different BMW repair shops. I bought a 98 323 cabrio back in September and I thought I was going to have to have this done. I found a little trick though that is working so far. As long as this works, I am going to keep doing it.
