Alignment specs ????

Where do I find the "optimal" street set- up for the E30 318is ??? This is the only auto that I do not have factory shop manual for... My son will use it for a daily driver so he doesn't need the "hot" specs. I'm sure the new shocks will be a REAL plus ... 158,000 on the original shocks should make QUITE a change. I've been driving the car every day to the office, (good way to keep mine inside at the shop !!)and it handles like a REAL dog... Of course the snow and ice doesn't add to the " Driving Enjoyment"!! I hope to have everything set and ready to go by the end on next week. Another can of Tectron and another Mobil 1 oil/filter change!!!! Now if I can get the brake lights to work and get it washed/waxed!! This car is realy in GREAT condition !! Just needs a little "loving care" My wife keeps saying I need winter project... Two more months untill it is Putnam Park time !!!!

You may want to check out my articles on both the front and rear suspension replacement.

I've read both of these very well done articles before... What I'm looking for are the front and rear alignment specs. I want to be sure my alignment shop has the correct set -up... I've got a factory shop manual for our '81 320i, but those don't help on the 318is...

Are you looking for toe-in specs then? Keep in mind that there is no adjustment provision for the caster and camber on these cars.

Thanks for the info !!! Now I see why there are so many camber accessories out there !!!

I remember also hearing something about using the offset E30 Me bushings to sorrect any potential camber problems. I think that you may also need to address the trailing arm bushings in the rear. When you get to the suspension, I reccommend you also upgrade to the E46 rear shock mounts. They are a direct bolt-in replacemnt.
