2001 330ci coupe, 193,000 miles. At about 7mph I begin to hear a "whirring" sound coming from the right rear. At about 15 mph, the "whirring" turns into a thumping but the noise goes away completely after reaching 27 mph. It also goes away when I stop accelerating anytime I'm in the 7 - 27 mph zone. The thumping is pretty bad if I continue to accelerate quickly or if I'm accelerating while going up a hill, below 27mph. I've been doing "jack rabbit" starts, just to get some momentum going, then I reduce the acceleration when the noise starts, allowing the speed to slowly reach 27 mph. After reaching 27 mph, the car runs fine! Any thoughts, input, direction, suggestions, or advice?

Could be something in the parking brake that has failed. I would inspect the wheel, brakes and rear suspension.
