HI, I have a 98 e36 m3 evo which has had the smg gear removed and the 6sp converted to a manual. The conversion was done by Previous owner. I don't have a check engine light at startup or when I disconnect MAF plug. I am guessing PO disconnected the wire to stop annoying Check light. Where would you cut this wire if you were going to? its brown green at cluster and I found it on one of the plugs near Rad expansion tank. When we plugged car in to diag the only code was the MAF car was missing, I replaced it. So does that mean it should not have any codes to throw the light? Doesn't the DME need to be reflashed to clear the codes? cheers Jordi

You have to clear the faults if you replaced the part. They will not clear right away. If the check engine is not coming on with the key off, it is malfunctioning. Easiest place to check would be the bulb in the cluster.
