new starter causes high idle ?

The vacume line connecting the purge switch to a port hidden on the bottom of the throttle body had fallen off - the rubber - 1987 e30 325 is - was really shot.

So I cut off the bad part and jammed it back on - had to get under the car and look up - than used a couple of zip ties as a strain relief to keep it tight.

Another vacume hose going from the idle valve to the intake was loose as was the metal fitting. Super glue fixed both. Idle at 700 smooth.

Some day I'll pull the motor and do the right thing -
