BMW Roundel Daylight running lights

I have 1996 (November 1995 manufacturing date) 328i convertible brought into Canada from US. I have to install daylight driving lights to pass the registration requirements here. I have the DRL module which is 7 pin and my car has 5 pin socket. To get the extra pins (5 and 1 on the DRL) to the socket I need to connect two wires from the light switch. I was to told to connect pin 10 in the switch to pin 1 in the socket and pin 4 in the switch to pin 5 in the socket. The problem is my headlight switch doesn't have pin 10, it goes from 9 to 11 and 12. In total there are 10 pins but numbers 3 and 10 are not there. This is a long story but I'd appreciate some practical help:-).
