How do you GET to the auxiliary fan resistor?
My '89 E30's auxiliary fan doesn't spin at low speed when jumpered, but does at high speed.
IIUC, I need to replace the auxiliary fan resistor. It's a Magna; I've got the replacement. How do I get to it? I've got a front valence. I can see the resistor -- just the middle of the body. But I can't get to the silly screws. Can't get my hands in there, or any kind of screwdriver. I suppose I could take apart the entire front end, removing the valence -- but I don't want to drill out and re-weld the spot welds just to replace the darned resistor. I don't think I removing the oil cooler from underneath will do anything for me. I could remove the main fan + radiator, and get at the auxiliary fan assembly that way. Again, seems like wasted effort. Can I get to it by just unbolting the top of the radiator, leaving hoses etc in place, and rocking/tilting it back? This CAN'T be this difficult ! Am I missing something obvious? |
