Multi-purpose indicator

The multipurpose indicator (that thing below the radio with all the buttons that shows the time, temp, date)...it went out. Where can I find another? It looks very easy to replace but don't want to pay $$$.

Did it stop working? ot did the red lights kind of fade away? if just bad reading lights on it you canreplace the light bar inside of it. Remove the unit and on the side it will reveal wher you can slide out the light bar for easy R&R. god luck.

If you look on ebay, people sell them all the time for like $20.

Here are 2 current auctions.... just search for E30 computer, or 325 computer ....and you'll find a ton of them.

If you want to go even cheaper, you can actually solder new bulbs into the old light bar. However, you'll have to find the bulbs at an electronics store first.

To be honest I haven't tried this, I went the whole light bar route using a great instruction sheet on the pre-password BMWE30.net site. It is possible to change the bar from the right side without removing the radio by just pulling the OBC out slightly, but there were some tricks to it.
