A 4-post lift will give the same versatility, with a simple bottle jack. I think all 4-post lifts come with a sliding jack tray to lift the car off the ramps. I sometimes use the built-in jack points on the sides for wheel changes or brake work. Some even do engine removal with a 4 post.
