The first respondent had it right. That number is in the correct range for an industrial engine, probably 616/6, late '50s. Common back in the day to use an industrial long block, and swap your cars induction/exhaust/tin/etc. They were never particularly plentiful, but they were around, cheaper than dirt, and usually very low hours. Poor boys version of the kundendienst engine!
