The 996 is like a Ford Taurus. We have 996 and 993 cabs sitting side by side in the garage, and it’s hard to believe that they were both made by Porsche. The 996 interior materials, leather, plastic finishes, etc are inferior to those used on the 993. The 993 is a tip, and I’d take it any day over the 996 6 speed. The only time I drive the 996 is to diagnose a problem when I have to work on it. It feels “ clumsy” compared to the earlier cars. I consider the car a time bomb. When a major engine problem arises, we will junk it out.
