You still need to make sure to watch the shaft after the arms are off it. It seems to me that if you are going to separate the engine and tranny anyway, then it's easier to have it ready to go when it hits the dolly, you are under there anyway.

That little injury (it wasn’t nearly as bad as it looks) was do purely to inexperience. I now know to hold the arm when taking off the circlip.
