I drove my 86' home to Calgary from Seattle and the route was approximately 700 miles. It was a great trip and there were zero issues (other than sweaty butts, no AC). I was prepared with the usual retinue of small tools, oil etc.

I dunno, I think it is natural to be excited and nervous about a long trip in an unfamiliar old-assed car, but don't overthink it.

Get the essentials, get AAA and get after it.

Oh, and as for driving it? Like a few others have already addressed, I've got 65K miles under my belt in the car and it is not some super unusual thing that handles and behaves dramatically unlike every other car. Gradually build speed etc, but that is the same in any car you're driving for the first time.

But most importantly, enjoy the ***** out of it.
