I can understand your wanting to let it go but I disagree with your mechanic. That car has many, many more miles before a full rebuild. All it needs is a top end (unless something deeper is lurking). Don't forget about the guy in Pano with 300K on his 993 - no rebuild, it may or may not have had a top end.
