There is no doubt Ferdinand the original was summoned by Hitler to come see him, and told to design a peoples car. What was he supposed to do, tell Hitler no?
And Ferdinand was not really involved with the 356 design, he was still in French jail. He died in 1951. Ferdinand Jr, AKA Ferry really made the company what it grew to be. His son Ferdinand, AKA Hans Peter Porsche is in control of the family that owns 51% of VW. And of course VW owns VW, Porsche, Audi, Lamborghini, Skoda, and others.
