Leyland-thanks for the education! I have been as far as the planning stage of just what you have done and I also had some problems with the width requirement of the muffler. I looked at my beautiful SSI heat exchangers , and sacrilige,I know, but they are joggled in to the center aft of the 3 into 1. How about a simple cut and 180 rotate which would bring the flanges out quite a bit,allowing a much longer muffler.I'm sure there is enough room under there.
Thats why those mufflers work so well with the other brand heat exchangers. Or even a straight pipe aft of the 3 into 1.
