This morning when I left for work, there was a homeless guy in the alley and he told me he was taking a break. I feel sorry for the guy as he is pretty old.

Would it be a mistake for me to hire him to clean up the alley and then pay him for the work? He seems harmless but I also don't want him there permanently.
How exposed is entry to your house from the alley? Can you let him clean up the alley under the auspices of the homeless authorities? A charitable heart is praise worthy but you know full well that you may be exposing yourself to some unpleasantness.
