Technically, that's true - they used the flag mirrors all the way up to what, 92 or so? About the only thing "period correct" on my car would be the windshield frame

but that's only a p.p. (personal preference). And, of course, "half the weight" is half an argument, I agree!

That isn't an argument, that's just contradiction!
The heavy bit on the aero mirrors are the cast pot-metal bases. You could put one of these in a sock and kill someone! Why couldn't they use aluminum?
