IMO, the best solution is what KevinP73 introduced me to. You put in a single hood shock (start with one that's already shot), and drill a hole in the casing and slide a pin into it to keep the hood up. It will never come down when the wind blows the hood up (like a prop bar) and isn't subject to age and temperature variations like the stock shocks.
