It looks like the tires were catching on the front fender lips. I can see they've bent downward, probably cut up the tire a little bit too. I had the same problem when I was running 60-series tires on my '76.

I had the lips rolled when the car was painted and changed to lower profile rubber and the problem was solved.

It looks great with the new height and wheels, though! Take it out for some heavy cornering at normal speeds and see if it rubs anywhere. Post a few more pictures, too!
