Sorry Stu, I am now hijacking your thread, but I think we are in the same boat. I have 79 3.0L SC engine too and I am currently thinking the same things as you do. I would like to have higher compression too.

So, is it really possible to re-coat old Alusil cylinders with nickel ?? Can I really "convert" my old Alusil cylinders to Nikasil cylinders and use J&E pistons with them ??

If this is so, this is really good day. This is a totally new alternative to me. I thought there is no way to re-use my old cylinders with some other pistons.
