Hey Mike,
Just signed on as a new member. You're my first post.
I just had work done on my cooler fan. I've got an 88 coupe.
As far as markings go, from the top, it's 300 degrees, next one down is 250, then 210, then 180, then I think 120.
There's a thermostat that opens at 215, sending oil to the cooler. The oil cooler fan doesn't turn on til 250 assuming your car has one. I'm not sure what year they started putting fans on, mid 80's.
I wish they made a fanswitch that was lower than 250 but that's the way they designed it.
Hope that helps. i'm enjoying the hot weather in Sacramento as well. Not too fun with an air cooler car.
