i think the speed is due to my spending my last umpteen saturdays in the shop doing all the non-critical tasks i.e. disassembly, hours and hours of cleaning and reassembly of the ancillaries.

your motor looked 90% down (to me) - and the 914 looks great. what are you doing for induction? howard has been told mfi is allowable in a 914 for targa, adelaide etc...

steve - we're in australia so our contacts are unlikely to help. the pistons have an oil shedding coating on the underside to aid cooling (as does my case interior) and a protective coating on the top. a google search should find heaps of places that do it in the US.
