FedEX To Charge $1.50 For Signature Confirmation
A continuation of my rant on FedEX.
FedEX will now require shippers to pay $1.50 for signature confirmation. Otherwise FedEX will simply leave packages on residential doorsteps.
After my recent experiences with FedEX, there is no way I will permit a package to be "delivered" without a signature from me. If $300 of Porsche parts or a $1,500 Apple computer disappears from my doorstop and/or is never actually left there by the FedEX driver, is Pelican or Apple going to absorb the loss? (FedEX failed to deliver a $500 Verizon Blackberry to me, and both FedEX and Verizon tried their hardest to make me pay for the $500.)
Moral: when you buy something mail-order, take care - find out who is delivering it and who is responsible for loss.
Edit: $1.50 is for a signature from anyone the driver can find (in my experience, this may well be the driver). For signatures from someone in the addressee's house, the price is higher.
