Thanks so much for the pics of your mounts, I was able to make one yesterday and got it mounted on the bike today.
Rather than use the brass studs that are in the top of the fork tube, I removed them, and have a threaded stud in the end of the mounting perch. (fork caps have a 5/16 x 24 female thread).
I used a 3/8" Aluminum rod for the cross bar.
Got my Pocket PC with Garmin bluetooth in an Otter waterproof case,
and my Video Camera mounted solidly to the bike.
