Since it cranks when you jump it at the starter, the symptoms point to the ignition switch circuit. One of the most common problems in this circuit is a cracked ignition switch. You might also check the seatbelt bypass junk under the passenger seat (if you have it - depends on which year your car is) for bad connections.
