I'll second (or third) the comments on calipers.

Sure, if you just want a rough measurement and .001" precision isn't an issue, then the Cen-Tech and other chinese brands are okay.

But calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments should not be bought from the bottom of the barrel. Good quality tools will last longer and give more accurate results.

I stick with Mitutoyo, Brown & Sharpe, and Starrett. They are kinda the Big Three, IMO, for quality and reliability. I do have an old Craftsman or two in my box, because Craftsman used to be private labelled by Starrett. I don't know who makes them currently.
