There's a certain set of snapring pliers that Snap-On makes. They fit on the snapring perfectly. That's the hard part to the job. Unfortunately, I don't know the right size or number, and I'm not home right now.

For $20, if you do the work yourself, it is most definitely worth it. It's doable with another set of snapring pliers, it's just a pain.
