Sorry to say, but the original turbocharger is a lag monster and the only way to effectively reduce "lag" is to install a nice set of headers with a more modern turbocharger. Whether you go for a newer K27-7200/HF-S, or Garrett Ball-bearing depends on your budget. There is NO substitute for the newer turbos

Also recommend upgrading that OEM intercooler too. It really isn't very efficient
