1980 930's did not have thermal reactors. That was a completly different exhaust system that had EGR as well and was on the 1976-79 U.S. 930 turbos..
The 1986 U.S. car would have the ROW exhaust system with a cat and oxygen sensor. All 930 turbos from 1978-89 had air pumps and air injection.
As far as gray market cars in the U.S. it all depends on who converted the car when it was originally legalized. There was some shady people doing this back them.
